Without doubt we have a portfolio of winter oilseed rape varieties bettered by none and list below those varieties that we offer - all varieties are in the Energise trials that we have a Pickworth where we are looking at the components of yield - results from this ongoing project will be available at a later date.

CASTILLE

The biggest selling conventional rape in the UK and the original low biomass variety combining consistent high yield with excellent disease resistance . Available in 4 million seed packs thus allowing you the farmer to drill by seed numbers and not weight.

CATANA

Currently in HGCA Candidate Trials , Catana take conventional variety yields to a new high with a 4% increase over that of Castille . Demonstrating very high vigour and superb Light Leafspot resistance not to mention an Oil content level of 45%+ Catana looks set to take the market by storm . Supplies are very limited for the coming Autumn so don't delay in your ordering.

EXCALIBUR

The hybrid variety that has taken the market share for hybrids to new levels as it combines high yield with outstanding vigour and unique early maturity not to mention much improved disease resistance , Whilst not a low biomass variety Excalibur does combine shorter straw than most hybrids with good stem stiffness . On the marketing front I fully expect this variety to sell out as it did last year.

TRABANT

Although not on the HGCA List Trabant is still the leading hybrid variety in Germany. In a recent Grainfarmers survey all farmers who replied stated that the vigour and establishment were outstanding and in most cases way ahead of any variety on the farm . Trabant combines high yield with a moderately short stem with a 9 for stiffness , good disease resistance and oil content of 44.3%

LIONESS

Top in the HGCA Gross Output table Lioness affords high treated yield with an oil content of 45.9% . Moderate straw length complemented by stiff straw . Moderate disease resistance . Again , a recent Grainfarmers survey has shown that Lioness growers do get high oils but this is then diluted when mixed with other lower oil yielding varieties .
